PAF COLABORATORY - a great learning experience for me.

The Portland Ad Federation sponsors an intern program every summer known as the COLABORATORY. During the 6-week program, interns rotate into participating agencies for two week periods so that interns can gather experience from a wide range of different agency styles and business models. Interns are divided among two teams, who compete to build a creative/strategic pitch to one prominent local brand. This year, its Tillamook Ice Cream, who created some brief materials for the Intern teams to interpret and build upon.

Behavioral Advertising Units Informing the Consumer

Would you like to learn more about why you are seeing this ad?

Behaviorally targeted online advertising has been under increasing scrutiny lately, here's a good example of enabling consumers to be more informed about what they're seeing, and to make a choice. You're still going to see advertising online, but you may now be getting just a little more choice about what.

Rolling Stone's Content Strategy Fail

Poor Rolling Stone. Even when they win they lose. They have the hottest news story this morning, which is quite a feat when news cycles are so fast and there’s no shortage of competing stories from the gulf oil spill to the World Cup to worldwide flooding. When news broke about General Stanley McChrystal’s comments critical of President Obama’s administration and the United States’ plan for Afghanistan it was the opportunity for Rolling Stone to prove their relevance and prowess as world events journalists. That is if you could find the story.

Mom_JennyCraig: Day 21

This past week I lost another half pound (almost).  This was my smallest loss, but at least I can still say I am going down.  My counselor was pleased, as she said by now I am leveling off and can't expect the larger losses to continue.  This past weekend was a challenge as I attended my 10 year old granddaughter's golf tournament at Kahneeta, Oregon.  She tied for second and won a $50 gift certificate in the pro shop.  Yeh -- Summer!!

Mobile Content Engagement and Usage Trends

I know how much I use my iPhone and how often I check my surf forecast and weather apps, but some recent stats published in the MediaPost Mobile Insider newsletter are worth considering for a moment.

"the iPhone version of GQ magazine is seeing almost the same levels of monthly engagement (65-70 minutes) as the print magazine (80 minutes). Compare those numbers to GQ.com, which gets a measly 10 minutes a month."
