Omniture vs Google Analytics
Can Omniture and Google Analytics coexist on the same site?
Invariably the question always comes up about whether or not one can have two sets of tags for web analytics in use on sites. More specifically this issue came up recently when we were looking at using Google Analytics as a validator for Jenny Craig and on some microsites, so I decided to ask the expert.
Eric Peterson is author of Web Analytics Demystified and has literally written the book on web analytics platforms, their use and integration. Turns out there are millions of sites – many large brands – who use Omniture and Google Analytics in conjunction with each other. Eric’s site has a vendor discovery tool that allows you to see which analytics platforms sites are using. It’s pretty cool.
GA and Omniture are on millions of pages w/o conflict: http://www.webanalyticsdemystified.com/vendor_discovery_tool_20081126.asp?one_vendor=Omniture

Great post! Glad to learn...
Great post! Glad to learn some of the differences; as I always wonder why people choose one product over another. A few notes:
Online advertising is essential for testing and implementation of your analytics. It’s too much to launch a campaign, then realize 24 hours later that you made a mistake with your tagging, or messed up the landing page installation, etc. In the meantime, you’re spending money and throwing it into a black hole. For short-term campaigns (e.g. event-driven promotional ads), it’s a necessity.
Nothing is ever “free” without a price. Right now the price is that Google and their web properties are privy to 9 out of 10 pages that we all visit. http://www.thenewgroup.com/blogs/omniture-vs-google-analytics
